Is working in a BPO a good long term career option ?
Certainly one can think of a career in a BPO as a long term option. To remain competitive in business, offshore companies started outsourcing back-office work to countries like India, famous for delivering quality services at a low cost. After seeing profit souring up of their competitors who outsourced their non-core functions, more and more companies are beginning to do the same. With a large English speaking qualified work force, which better country than India would be better suited for this kind of job? And yes, there is lot of growth opportunities for those working in BPO industries, whether in terms of remunerations, learning or promotions. ? Here incentives and promotions are based on performance and not time bound. Moreover an experience in this industry will be an asset for him/her if he/she intends to join other industries as he/she would have experience in global working practices and using latest technology. It is not only process learning but also soft skills training which he/she acquires while working in a BPO which will come to use in his/her new work place. |
